About Carrie Proctor

Carrie S. Proctor graduated from the University of Florida with a B.A. degree in Political Science. She continued her education at the University of Florida and received her Juris Doctor degree in 1987. Upon graduation from law school, Ms. Proctor was employed as an Assistant State Attorney for the Fifth Judicial Circuit in Ocala, Florida, prosecuting a wide variety of criminal cases from misdemeanors to serious felony crimes. During her tenure with the State Attorney's Office, Ms. Proctor was appointed Chief Drug Prosecutor for Marion County and was responsible for prosecuting all felony drug offenses. In 1990, she was awarded the honor of being named Prosecutor of the Year by the Marion County Sheriff's Office.

In 1993, Ms. Proctor was hired by the Marion County Sheriff's Office to serve as Senior Staff Attorney. Some of her responsibilities included defending the Marion County Sheriff's Office in various kinds of litigation, legal training of Sheriff's deputies, acting as a liaison with the judiciary and the private Bar, and also advising the Sheriff's Command Staff on a variety of legal issues. Further, she was also responsible for representing the Cities of Ocala and Dunnellon in forfeiture proceedings. While serving as Senior Staff Attorney, Ms. Proctor attended the FBI National Acadamy at Quantico.

Ms. Proctor has taught criminal justice classes for the Police Acadamy at the Community College of Central Florida, as well as paralegal courses through Webster College.

After seven years with the Sheriff's Office, Ms.Proctor chose to utilize her advanced legal and trial skills in the private sector as a criminal defense attorney. Ms. Proctor is a member of the Florida Bar, the Marion County Bar Association and a member of the Marion County Association for Criminal Defense Lawyers.
